Stromanthe Triostar Division: I’ve had my Stromanthe Triostar for approximately 14 months. In that time, it has grown two new rhizomes as it began to fill out its pot. Wanting to make sure it will have room to continue growing new rhizomes this season, I …
It’s that time of year when it’s time to separate pups from my snake plants (Sansevierias).
This is my snake plant. It has been growing a pup for the last six months that I am giving to a friend who is new to houseplants. Snake plants are pretty easy to take care of and my friend was happy to start out with a plant that isn’t too fussy.
I started by taking my snake plant out of its pot by simply turning it over when the soil was a little drier.
Once it was out of the pot, I check over the roots and isolated the pup. Making sure the pup had enough roots to survive on its own, I decided to move forward.
I snipped the pup from the mother plant with a pair of very sharp and cleaned clippers at the spot where the pup connect to the mother plant.
The pup looked healthy with plenty of roots to take in nutrients and water.
I potted the pup in its own pot in preparation to take it to my friend the following Monday.
If you have any suggestions or questions, leave me a comment! I am always looking for feedback and new ideas.
